Who we are and what this is for

David's Tent USA maintains a continuous offering of worship and prayer, 24 hours a day, at two locations in Washington DC — David's Tent and the American Center for Prayer and Revival. Every hour of every day is covered by volunteers on watch.

The David's Tent Scheduler is the privately owned scheduling tool we use to organize that. It exists so that no hour goes uncovered, so that the people who serve are cared for rather than overscheduled or scheduled outside their availability, and so that the tent is a safe place for the people who volunteer or visit.

The scheduler is used only by people who serve with us. Nothing is sold through it. We do not advertise in it, and we do not use it to raise funds.

What we collect, and why each thing is there

We ask for nothing we do not use. Each of these questions exists for a stated reason.

Name, email, phone, home city, and home church
So we can identify you, contact you about your watches, and understand where you are coming from.
Date of birth
To confirm you are old enough to serve, and to know how many adults responsible for the event are on site.
Your application answers — why you want to serve, your worship and leadership experience, your availability and preferred hours
So the schedule reflects what you can actually do and what you are equipped to lead, rather than guessing.
A pastoral reference from a pastor or spiritual leader you name
Because our volunteers serve in a public space, are trusted with a stage or indoor prayer room, and in many cases live in shared housing with other volunteers. A reference is part of how we take that responsibility seriously.
A disclosure about prior convictions for a felony, sexual misconduct or sexual harassment
For the safety of the people who serve here and the people who visit.
Health conditions, allergies, and medication, if you choose to share
So we can schedule you safely, arrange suitable housing, and be aware of possible medical needs while you are on site. You may decline to name your medications and still serve.
Passport and visa details, for applicants coming from outside the United States
So we can write the invitation letter your visa application needs, and confirm you are able to be here for the season you have committed to.

We do not collect payment details, and we do not track your browsing.

Why and when we will contact you

We will only ever contact you about serving with David’s Tent. Every message falls into one of these categories:

  • Your application — confirming we received it, arranging a call, telling you the outcome.
  • Your schedule — the watches you have been given, and any change to them.
  • Cover — asking whether you can take an hour someone has had to cancel, usually at short notice.
  • Practical arrangements — housing, work duties, travel, training.
  • Care — checking in with you to offer prayer or invite feedback about your experience while you serve with us.

We will not contact you to ask for money, to promote an event you have not asked about, or to pass on anything from another organization.

Text messages

If you give us your mobile number and tick the box agreeing to text messages, we will use it for the reasons listed above — most often to tell you your schedule is published, to let you know something has changed, or to ask whether you can cover an open hour.

We use text for these because a watch that goes uncovered at 3am cannot wait for someone to check their email.

  • Message frequency varies with your schedule and indicated preferences.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages.
  • You can also ask an administrator to remove your number at any time.
  • Choosing not to receive texts does not affect whether you can serve.

We will never send you marketing or promotional text messages.

We do not share your phone number

Mobile information and text-message consent are not shared with, sold to, or rented to any third party for any purpose. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. This applies to all text-message consent given through the David’s Tent Scheduler.

Who can see your information

Your information is visible to David’s Tent administrators who organize the schedule and review applications. It is not visible to other volunteers, and it is not public. Access is limited to the people who need it to do that work.

We use a small number of service providers to run the scheduler — Google Firebase to store data and manage sign-in, Brevo to send email, and Twilio to send text messages. They process your information only to provide those services to us, under contract, and for no other purpose.

We do not share your information with any other church, ministry or organization. We do not sell it. We do not use it for fundraising.

How long we keep it

We keep your application and profile while you serve with us, and for a reasonable period afterward in case you return — many people serve each year for a dedicated time. We keep a record of your application after you join so we can remember what you told us about your availability and needs.

You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will unless we are required by law to keep it.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information, or stop receiving text messages, at any time. Email schedule@davidstentdc.org and a member of the scheduling staff will answer you personally.

Children

The scheduler is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children without parental consent.
